Taras Shevchenko is one of the most famous Ukrainians in history. He was born 1814 into a poor family and lost his parents when he was still a child. Young Taras loved drawing, and this talent his life: kind people noticed his gift, helped to buy his freedom and supported his studies at the Academy of Arts. In 1840 he published "Kobzar", a small book of poems which him famous across the country. Shevchenko about ordinary people and their hard lives, and readers loved him his honest words.
