People all over the world love New Year, but they celebrate it in different ways.

In Australia, the new year comes very early because of the time zone. In Sydney, thousands of people stand near the water and watch huge fireworks over the harbour at midnight.

In Spain, people eat twelve grapes at midnight — one grape for every sound of the clock. Many Spanish people believe that the grapes can bring good luck for the twelve months of the new year.

In the USA, a big crowd meets in Times Square in New York. At midnight a large shining ball slowly comes down — the famous "ball drop". Millions of people watch it on TV at home.

And in Ukraine? Petro from Odesa says: "We cook a big family dinner, watch fireworks, and call our friends at midnight. This year I am going to celebrate with my grandparents in the village."
